ACIST- Injection Systems for Contrast Delivery in Cardiovascular Angiography

Save 10% to 39% of total amount of contrast used for each case- depending on the mix of diagnostic and PCI patients. ⁵

Adapted from Brosh et al., (2005) Tables 1 and 2 for the total amount of contrast media used per patient for patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization alone (Diagnostic) and patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention (Diagnostic and PCI). Manual injection is defined as contrast injection using a stopcock-manifold system and a hand syringe. In addition, left ventriculography was performed using a fixed volume power injector in this group. Values in parentheses are the actual reported mean values for each experimental condition. The percentage reduction is calculated as (Traditional/Manual value - ACIST value)/Traditional/Manual value x 100%.
