Job Title: Sr. Software Applications Engineer #33428

Primary Objective

This position is responsible for software development for medical device products.  This includes design, proof-of concept, detailed design, code, unit and integration test.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Design, develop, and debug software
  • Develop the documentation associated with design, and development activities
  • Assist in hardware/software system architecture design tradeoffs
  • Assist in the resolution of software design tradeoffs
  • Assist with system engineering issues (tolerance, system architecture, etc.)
  • Assist with the system deployment (some travel required)
  • Comply with all design related standards
  • Assist the design verification and validation test efforts as required
  • Comply with department and corporate quality initiatives
  • Assist in maintaining ISO certification
  • Assist in FDA 510 (k) submission requirements
  • Consult and communicate with the program and project management
  • Integrate with the entire project team

Knowledge And Education, Experience And Training:

  • B.S. in discipline such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering .
  • Minimum of 5 years experience (prefer federally regulated software development)

Skills And Abilities:

  • Excellent C++ / C#  knowledge
  • Development Tools:  MS Visual Studio .NET
  • Operating Systems: XP,  desired: XP-Embedded, Windows CE
  • Experience with distributed systems
  • GUI development experience
  • Experience with federal regulations and ISO requirements for software development, plus formal (CMM or CMMI) development processes and related measurement activities.
  • Good communication, verbal/writing skills, and strong understanding of algorithms and data structures, configuration management tools (ex. PVCS, MS SourceSafe).
  • Other programming languages such as .NET, XML, XSL, HTML and communication protocols (TCP/IP, UPnP, Web Services, SOAP)
  • Experience with requirements management, modeling tools (UML, Rhapsody, CaliberRM), automated unit test tools (e.g. LabVIEW, Winrunner, VectorCover, TestConductor)
  • Microsoft Office Products
